Sowing the Seed of good hair

Love London

The combo of coloured hair, a a season of frying in the sun and a horrendous office central heating/aircon situation means it’s all to easy for your hair to end up in need of a helping hand. Moisturising shampoos and deep conditioning treatments are great, but sometimes you just need a salon treatment to really inject some life back into those locks. Seeing as all of the above apply to me, when I was recently invited to Clapham Junction’s Seed salon to try an Olaplex® I jumped at the chance.

The revolutionary new in-salon system seeks out and helps to permanently rebuild, damaged disulphide
bonds (the side bonds) within the hair, the bonds that give your bouncy barnet elasticity and strength. Chemical processes like colouring, relaxing, keratin treatments, heat damage and perming cause said bonds to break and, until now, nothing has been able to re-link them.

The treatment has a decent scientific pedigree behind it; invented by Dr. Eric Pressly, PHD in Materials, and Dr. Craig Hawker, PHD in Chemistry they are clearly two gentlemen who know a thing or two about science. A favourite of Hollywood’s celebrity hair stylists, there are a host of famous names who swear by the treatment; Olaplex® allows colourists to create colour changes to hair that were previously only dreamed of (like black to blonde in just one session) and the ability to repeatedly change hair colour without damaging the integrity of the hair. No wonder the Kardashians are fans.

Seed Clapham Junction is the second of the salon’s sites, with the first being located in Fulham. Situated at the top of St John’s Hill, away from the bustle of the Junction. Doors to the first salon opened in 2010 and both salons have a rustic, yet eclectic feel with a menu featuring colour, treatments and permanent blow dries along with cuts. Previously featured in Tatler's Hair Guide's Best For Colour, Seed have also been selected as finalist for Davines 'Hair On Stage 2016’ and were the winners of Best Haircut for Davines 'Hair On Stage 2017. Speaking of which the salon also stocks a plethora of products from davines bestselling haircare range.

After an hour in the chair (accompanied by a bowl of fresh, chilled grapes which was such a lovely addition), an Olaplex treatment, a trim and a blow dry, my previously ratty locks were transformed into a soft and supple, glossy new mane. It’s amazing how it often takes a treatment and a trim to help you realise how bad a condition your hair was in before! If you’re looking to add a bit of bounce to your barnet, this is one to get on the radar.
