Tyburn Convent on the edges of Hyde Park is home to the Tyburn nuns, who practice perpetual adoration. What this means is that there is always one member of the convent praying in the monstrance; when a gong sounds she is replaced by another nun, and this continues round the clock.
Founded in 1901 by Marie Adele Garnier from France, the convent is located very near the site of the Tyburn Gallows, where criminals were executed once upon a time. The crypt contains remains of some of the Catholic Martyrs who died here, and guided tours of the Shrine of the Martyrs take place daily.
