Warehouse spaces under the railway arches of the capital have long been hot spots for night time debauchery. Cable, situated under the arches near London Bridge station is one such cavernous enterprise. This three-room club can accommodate up to 1,000 people, and hosts ad hoc nights such as Mulletover and Buzzin’ Fly, as well as being the new home of Sunday morning after hours club Jaded, since it left its Kings Cross residency at Egg. The latter is one of Cable’s main draws, as Sunday morning clubs are few and far between and Jaded is one of the few consistent ones. The atmosphere varies depending on the event and how busy it gets – Jaded can be dull and frustrating one week when only the smaller room is open or akin to a religious experience when an exceptional DJ is booked and the club fills up. While gangsters and their tarted-up girlfriends preen and pose at the bar or by the balcony on the mezzanine level, the bigger room is darker, messier and far more hectic. On the whole, its dingy appearance and semblance of intimacy despite its large capacity are fast making Cable one of London’s best loved night clubs.
