As the craft beer craze attaches itself to 2013, if you don’t know your stouts from your pale ales then it’s about time you found out. The Scottish brewery Brew Dog are at the forefront of the revolution, which makes it one of the best places to come and find out about what’s brewing.

Located a short walk from Camden Tube, the Bayham Street outpost of Brew Dog is a simple affair. Kitted out in unremarkable wooden boards, polished bar and blackboards across two floors, it reeks of a kind of hip, accessibility. Tables are at a premium and standing space is limited but a visit is well worth your time – if only to be educated by some of the most accommodating bar people in London.

Don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to the craft? Just say so, and sure enough after a brief tutorial you’ll be sipping on something you may not have ever known you’d like. That’s progress.

From the super-popular Punk IPA to the 18% Tokyo, there is a world of beer to get into. Brew Dog also stocks international beers from Scandinavia, the USA and Europe both by the bottle and from the keg.

No beer bar would be quite complete without some food to anchor you down and the Brew Dog menu is a charmer. Burgers and pizzas are the main appeal - created by former Masterchef winner Tim Anderson, no less.

The Brew Dog experience all depends on your tastes. The beer is undoubtedly the star attraction but the venue allows it to shine with its understated charm.
