"Great beer, great burgers. Our new Peckham favourite."Review Rating: Reviewed by T.A.O
The last time we visited the Brick Brewery just off Rye Lane in Peckham, we found a small indie outfit with a few makeshift keg stools and a crude bar knocked up to serve the beer coming from the warehouse space in the back. This time, the whole Brick Brewery Bar Tap Room experience is totally different, unrecognizable in the fact that the brew room itself has closed its doors to gawping customers and a special covered bar has sprung up outside it, complete with real bar, proper tables and chairs and one of the most impressive looking burger grills we’ve seen in ages. How did we wait this long to come back to Brick and why did nobody tell us it was so good? Actually, let’s forget those questions, since it’s kind of our job to be keeping up with that kind of information and we wouldn’t want to undermine our credentials.
It helps that on the day we visit the alfresco – but completely covered – bar it’s a scorcher, we’re not quite sure how much the heaters would keep in the warmth in winter. The heat makes the Peckham Pils a thirst -quenching treat, while the Pioneer that joins it on the taps, and later in our glass, brings a heavier, hoppy punch with it.
The addition of great burgers from an open grill makes the Brick Brewery a great place to spend a boozy Saturday and best of all, unlike a lot of tap rooms, it opens on weekday evenings from Wednesday to Friday. It’s clearly our new Peckham favourite.
