Today I went to the Camden Town branch to have a copy of my UK passport certified. I had received a letter from another organisation requiring me to send a copy signed and dated by an unrelated professional person - either a bank staff member, a dentist, a Councillor or a Minister of Religion. All that is required is for the unrelated professional to state on the copy that it is the same as the original (which I had with me).
Currently, it is not possible to see my Councillor (Corona restrictions), nor do I have a regular dentist or am a member of a church. When I came into the branch , there were three members of staff waiting for customers near the entrance as it was not busy. A middle aged female staff member with curly black hair approached me and asked me how she could help me today. When I explained my concern, I could see her face darken instantly and she did not even wait for me to finish before replying brusquely that she/the bank would not be able to help. She did not even look at the letter explaining that any bank professional could do this. It would have taken one minute of her time.
I have been a customer of this branch for 15 years but I feel gutted by the unfriendly and short response I received - a total failure of customer service. In fact, so gutted that I don't want to bank there anymore - I decided to look elsewhere.
