We give you London's top list for where X possibly marks your musical spot.

With one store in the West on Golborne Road and another in the east on Brick Lane, both sides of London can sink their teeth into the excellent array of new vinyl at Rough Trade. The famous label’s stores are big and welcoming, stocking a range of genres to suit any taste.

Named after a Velvet Underground song, Sister Ray is still the destination par excellence for music lovers and vinyl junkies. Their selection covers pretty much every genre (although you won't find any Justin Bieber here) and it's easy to spend hours nosing through their vast displays of CDs and LPs.

I've been going to Sister Ray for years and the quality has never once slipped. Great for new and old vinyl whether you're looking with something in mind or hoping to stumble on something new.
