Shoe & key
Shoe Repairers & Cobbler at The Arcade, 12 Liverpool Street
Shoekey are overpriced and the quality of service is poor. They insisted that I pay in advance for my shoes to be re-heeled and then did a poor quality job. Their response was, “do you really care what’s on the bottom of your shoes”, which is a questionable attitude for someone in their line of work. No refund or improvement was offered.
Shoekey should consider their attitude towards customers and improve the quality of their work, particularly if they intend to charge high prices.

The quality of work I have had done to my shoes today looks good. However, the price is extremely high for what you receive, and the customer 'service' is extremely rude. I'm sure they think they are being funny, but believe me it is just plain old fashioned rudeness. I will never, that is never use them again. I work so near to them it is the obvious place to go, but I won't and will advise colleagues to use anyone else. Shame.
I'm moved to comment by the two negative reviews here - I used Shoe Key specifically because I'd read about the ultra-thin sole protectors they can fit on decent leather soled shoes, and I was very pleased with the job they did. Not cheap, but quality. And I was impressed by Gary's obliging attitude. I'll be taking another pair in soon.
This place is unbelievably bad. I left my shoe to be repaired (which they demanded to be pre-paid), and returned 2 weeks later and still hadn't been fixed. Instead of being apologetic, he simply said that his machine was broken and what could he do about it. Their prices are a joke (£20 for a broken heel). When I said I wanted my shoe and money back he got even ruder. Probably some of the rudest customer service I've ever experienced.
This shop is located right on the entrance to Liverpool Station and so is a very convenient location. I think the charges are quite excessive, probably because of the high visibility that they have. Also, I found the staff to be extremely rude. I went to the shop on the 26th of March. I had a fairly small task of getting the side of the sole painted. When the job was completed I pointed out that they hadn’t done the sides properly. This prompted a very angry rant about how this person had been doing the job for 25 years and then very reluctantly agreed to do it the way I asked him.
On the whole a very negative experience and I am never going back there again.
I think there is another shoe and key repair shop on Liverpool Street itself and also one inside the station. The staff there tend to do a great job, are very friendly and definitely charge much less.
