Feeling like I am going back to 1985, today even though I would have only been aged 7 then, with all the advances in breaking down HIV stigma, better public awareness and much better treatment. I went to a generic health cente to get acupuncture. The person doing the assessment did a full assessment taking down my nearly 20 years of living with HIV. They could have told me there hiv policy before taking more information from me!
They told me that they could not give me the treatment:
(1) due to the needles
(2) risk to other patients
(3) there policy of not giving acupuncture to HIV patients.
I tried to explain:
(1) I’m undetectable can’t pass it on.
(2) You throw away needles no risk to other patients.
(3) Your policy is discriminatory as no risk and the equality act 2010.
(4) Whilst accidents can happen. You would have to be a bad acupuncturist if you plan to stab yourself to draw blood when taking out needles from me and handling the needles.
Needless to say I refused to pay and walked out.
End HIV Stigma!

I've been going to Yin Yang for around 10 years now and as I lay on the massage table on Saturday just gone, I thought a review was long overdue.
I love this little place. Unpretentious, quiet and I've always noticed that the very experienced Chinese ladies really listen when I describe my ailments and are always friendly, funny and full of advice. Massages are the right balance, firm yet gentle.
I live in SW London now but will always make the trip back to Yin Yang for more acupuncture and massage. They've sorted many problems over the years so can't see why I'd go anywhere else.

The lady working here (sorry to not know her name) has such a huge knowledge.
I arrived after 12 hours of extreme pain in my neck after pulling a muscle. Ibuprofen helped by a fraction, but the pain of moving was close to unbearable.
I left in much better shape after being massaged, cupped and needled for over an hour - she performed more treatments than I paid for to help ease the pain.
There was no pressure to book further appointments - just a desire to help. I would return here without any hesitation.
