I have used Palace motors for nearly 20 years, many of my friends have also been using Palace motors for a long time. Theo gets 10 out of 10 in every respect. They are not simply a run of the mill repair shop--but Theo is highly knowledgeable with Porsche and Ferrari and anything else you take to him. Forget Porsche, BMW and Ferrari specialists with their utterly stratospheric charges. Theo knows more than most of them but you get run of the mill invoices. Always cheerful and friendly. Go into their workshop and you will see a very busy place. The engineers are simply getting on with the job.
I cannot give a higher recommendation.

There is a joker here who has given Theo's garage one star. Something tells me that there is something that he is not telling us, probably that he's a complete pain in the posterior and impossible to please. I am not Theo's relative, by the way, just to reassure Mr. Paranoid out there, my name is Trevor Barre, I have lived in Crouch End for 25 years and have used Palace Motors for most of these. I remember when Theo had only one garage to work out of, and about one staff member, and am pleased that his business has expended, but not surprised.
I do give ten out of ten's, unlike the misery guts who takes a stance about not giving em, like it's some sort of statement of integrity. Some people!!

The price was reasonable and the communication seemed good - called when they said they would, polite and easy to deal with. However the standard of work was sloppy at best. After my service, I found that both air filter and oil filter had been poorly fitted - air filter was squashed out of shape and oil filter dented. They also managed to snap off the connectors of the air sensor leads attached to the bottom of the air filter housing, probably through rough handling, which led to a new problem with poor idling which I had to fix myself at further expense.

As regards previous "reviews" I suspect anyone who gives 10/10 for anything. All I can say is that when you get his diagnosis, check the net about your car/problem, that's what it's there for. many pages of advice about your own car, then you may find a cheaper way to fix. tell him, don't slay him. I,ve found him a sound man to deal with, no-one likes MOT shock but some times it can be haggled. No doubt he knows his stuff...none. I'm on my 3rd year using him, so that answers my loyalty, but I don't give 10s , who is perfect ?

After my starter motor failed I left my car there - I was told I would be called the next day.I wasn't called all day and when I called they were closed. I was finally called on Monday and told a fairly high price to fix a simple problem. A day after picking it up the same problem occurred.Not cool

Hey Mr Anonymous copywriter, if the rest of the reviews were written by the same person (which I doubt) then I can assure you this one isn't!
Dealt with Palace motors recently twice, I was very impressed by the price and service. The owner, Theo, was extremely helpful and kept me updated at all times, always confirmed it was to go ahead with work before doing it and always stuck to the price he quoted.
I'd happily recommend these guys to any motorist.

Palace motors managed to knock £1274 pounds off a previous quote I had received for work to a porsche. They are always courteous and efficient and having looked at cost breakdowns from them compared to other garages they are extremely inexpensive. And this is not written by the garage!

I am just booking my car in for a service and had to find the site for tel. number. I was surprised to see the two negative reviews. My car has been serviced there when it was owned by my son and he gave me the car 3 years ago and they have allways serviced it. I found them extremely polite and not expensive. As it was late in the evening they made me wait so they could walk me to where they had parked my car. I also popped it when a light buld went and I had the bulb, the put it in and no charge. I only have it done once a year so do not visit garage very often and doubt they know who I am.

Never go here!
Tried to charge me £1200 pounds for a problem which was actually a fan belt that needed tightening. I reckon the reviews on here are written by the company themselves....Do not trust them!!!

Want to recommend Palace Motors to all Crouch Enders looking for the right garage.
I had a very worrying problem with my car, phoned up on Tuesday , took car in late Tuesday afternoon and had car back by Wednesday afternoon which is brilliant as I need my car to do the school run and for work so it is always a crisis when I have a car related problem
Really polite and friendly manager who always tries to help and very reasonable rates for the work done which is more than you often get at other garages - so if in doubt try it out - once you have used it I doubt you will go anywhere else

I wanted to add a comment as I had a very similar experience to above reviewer. I needed a new bulb as one of my tail lights was out. They replaced it and did not charge me a thing. I have since had my car MOT there,(it passed without needing any work) and a subsequent bulb fit which cost just 7 pounds. I trust them, they are reasonably priced and give excellent service.

Can't recommend Palace Motors enough - they just fixed my car this afternoon, in 2 hours - and for free! Ok, it was a very simple problem to resolve and didn't require any parts (except for a 50p split-pin), but I couldn't have done it myself and the car was undriveable otherwise and they didn't even charge for any labour costs. Fantastic service, and I will definitely use them again now.
