This was my second time at the advanced academy and it was such a different experience. I had such a positive experience the first time (earlier this year), but the hair cut I had last week has got to be one of the worst, by far, in my life.
I knew what to expect, you don't ever get exactly what you want, you have to almost negotiate with the hairdresser so it ticks their boxes too, which I understand, but the hair cut I have been left with is by no means acceptable or even edgey or cool in anyway. I felt my needs were completley put to one side and ignored, even when I kept asking the main guy questions about it during it (the trainee who actually cut my hair didn't speak english), and he kept saying it would look wonderful. It does not.
I have seriously cried daily since having my hair cut there, it will take months to grow out, it looks so shocking down but I can barely put it up, and I'm one of those people who always likes to have her hair down. I really feel my confidence and self esteem have been majorly knocked!
This review isn't a criticism of the hairdresser's technical skill, as she cut very well, but more the lead trainer's taste and vision for my hair style. I over heard him at one point say, "there are no rules in hair dressing, be free", to the trainee.
I so wish I had grabbed my bag and run at that moment.

I have my hair cut at Trevor Sorbie and they treat you very well and are so friendly.
What was so clear at Vidal Sassoon in St Paul's is that because you are not a full paying client the trainee attitude in my case was appalling. Which is very odd because anyone is a potential client of their salon and you should treat everyone with the same care and respect as a potential client. Giving a good service and the best you can is what bring success and repeat custom. this experience has left me with the feeling that I would not want to have my hair done again by a trainee nor in a Vidal Sasson Salon. This was a good lesson and will see if I can afford having my hair coloured as well as cut at Trevor Sorbie.

Take a good book with you as things proceed quite slowly and you are likely to be in for at least 2,5 hours, sometimes three. Most teachers are really nice and considerate, except for one called Dave who wasn't particularly nice to one of the other clients when I was there (he didn't care that she wanted a classical haircut, he said they were going through with the style they had taught to those students and that they couldn't really accomodate her).
All in all, it's definitely worth it if you have plenty of time to spend and a degree of flexibility about your look.

The journey is a trek if you don't live in central London but the prices are worth it.
£5 for a student! but 12 quid normally which saves you alot from originally more than £20
they actually advise you what kind of hair cut and styles
Even thought i've been once, there gonna stay my new hair dressers for ages :)
