Sometimes text comps are worth it but with most comps, you win some you lose some.

For example - The walkers text comp is SNR, you can text just once a day.
There are various prize. I've been texting everyday & not even a sniff of even a small win.

DSS - Expensive at £1.50 a go but that puts people off so kinda ups your chances a little. I won a dolls house worth £100 from them this year.
I just won the 40in tv, xbox & game from them too.

I was texting daily on the strongbow competition. Managed to win plenty of strongbow glasses & magnets.... the glasses are very nice though.
Then a week before i ended hubby got a call to say we'd won the smeg fridge.... i was super happy about that..... esp as i finally got to get a pink fridge :laugh:

When fanta did their daily comp.... i won nowt, some people won loads of times.

I do go through stamps like theres no tomorrow...... but its my hobby.
I don't drink or smoke or go clubbing etc so my spare pennies go on what i enjoy & i enjoy comping.

I love winning things & giving them to other people.

Hear, hear Daisy! I love winning comps, but I always enter ones that costs a lot of money! How much have you totted up over all the comps you've entered?

Most internet comps are free :)

I know many compers who online do online comps & don't do any postcard or text/phone comps.

I mainly enter comps for other people.
The laptop last year & the tv this year are for my mum.
The fridge i was going to give to my mum but she just got a replacement for her old fridge so i decided to keep the fridge for myself.

I wasn't bragging about my wins by the way, just showing you what you can win if you put a bit of effort in to comping. Having said that most of my wins are made up of little wins, like tipp-ex :laugh: & a pink little bag with a picture of a pony on it for my daughter :laugh:

I love the little wins as well as the biggies.

my first win ever was here on AIL when i got the 50 vouchers i am still so happy about that!!

Like Daisy, i enter a <b>lot</b> of comps, but the entry cost is usually nothing more than my time, i.e. via an email or web. I used to spend a fortune on postcards, but most people prefer electronic entry nowadays.

But that means mroe people enter, and I've had a very bad year, which makes this £50 all the more appreciated.

Usually I win at least one holiday a year. Our last car was a win too, in the Glades shopping centre in bromley.

It's a fantastic hobby, I've been on so many holidays that people would consider 'the holiday of a lifetime', such as DisneyWorld, Skiing in the Canadian Rockies and a fantastic fortnight at Club Med in Florida. If you want to take it up seriously, join a club (online or otherwise) and share comp details. There are web sites like Loquax and Moneysaving Expert's forums, but I find private clubs much friendlier.

It's great. In fact with just me working and my wife looking after the kids its the only way we'd ever get abroad.

Oh they're EVERYWHERE. Almost every web site, newspaper, magazine or store has at least one going.

Like I said above, I'm in a couple of private Yahoo based groups, which keeps me more than busy. If you want to start, go to www.loquax.co.uk and see what its all about. but I warn you, its kind of information overload there...
