Hi y'all, brand new I'm afraid.

I was just wondering if anybody new any good places to take my nephew and niece this summer (11 & 9). We are one stage up from hobos so money is not the best word. Free would be a good start!

http://www.KidsToLondon.com is the site you're looking for Happy
I would also recommend seeing a nice West End show like The Lion King. Visit www.broadwaybox.com/london and get a discount code so you won't burn a hole in your pocket for the tickets

Hi Alby C and DinJ,

Welcome to The Knowledge.

(KidstoLondon is a great suggestion, so we've activated your link.)

There are so many things to do in London... but finding the FREE ones is a challenge and free ones that kids will enjoy is an even greater challenge!

Here are some free suggestions:

Sightseeing: if it's their first time in London, you spoiled for choice when it comes to great landmarks: Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, Horse Guards, Piccadilly Circus, London Eye etc etc or you can just hop on one of the Sightseeing Buses and save your legs, these are very cheap and you can get on and off when you wish.

Exhibitions at Natural History Museum: There are always great exhibition here on space and dinosaurs - and it's a voluntary fee to get in:
http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/natural-history-museum.php

Science Museum:
There are always great interactive exhibitions open for children here; and it's just across the road from Nat Hist Museum
http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/science-museum.php

British Museum: Again, completely free to get in and there's always lots here for children, ancient Egypt, mummies etc

Royal Opera House Free Lunchtime Recitals:
Don't know how child-friendly this is, but it might be something quite different for them - check with the Opera House when the recitals run
http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/royal-opera-house.php

Outdoor Movie Screenings:
Depending on whether it's a "school night" or night (showings begin at 9:30pm), they're holding free outdoor movie screenings at The Scoop. Films have a mixture of certificates so there's something for all, see the link for the schedule of showings
http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/whats-on.php?event=1835

TV Show Recordings:
It might be quite fun to take them to the recording of a TV show, there are various shows being recorded in london all the time with different age limitations, for more info see
http://www.itv.com/tickets/ or
http://www.tvrecordings.com).

Take them to a film premiere:
If you get there early enough there's always a good chance of seeing the stars - and this is completely free. We display as many film premieres as we can get hold of in our What's On section: http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/whats-on.php?type=town&month=06&year=2005
The premieres will be under the "around town " section. In June we've got info on the War of the Worlds and Batman Begins Premiere.

Hopefully there are some good FREE ideas there.

Here are some great things to do in London with little people but these aren't free:

London Duck Tours:
An amphibious vehicle that drives through London streets and also into the Thames is a fantastic way to see the city and kids love it.

(Adults: £17, Kids: £12)

Madame Taussauds:
A favourite with kids.
http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/whats-on.php?event=1401
(~£16)

London Aquarium:
Another firm favourite with children.
http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/london-aquarium.php
(Adults: £9.75, Kids: £6.25)

London Zoo:

(Adult: £14, Children £10.75)

The London Dungeon:

(Adult: £17.50, Children: £13.95)

I hope there are some good ideas here.

All the best,

Hey thanks Team and Dinj.

That is a fantastic amount of information. That reply could have it's own website. As for the theatre discounts (www.broadwaybox.com/london)I have put that on my favourites list along with this site. I have never seen a better site for theatre deals.

This will certainly keep us busy for months. I can already see us in the James Bond water machine, but if it's yellow we certainly wont be living in it! Wink
