In partnership with the National Portrait Gallery, McCain is celebrating the diversity of British families in a snapshot display which showcases the reality of family life in 2017.

The pop-up display, which features a melting pot of families from across Britain, celebrates some of the unique setups that exist today from multi-generational living, to single parents and traditional family units across varying demographics, age ranges and ethnicities.

Opening on 21st September at the National Portrait Gallery, London, We Are Family aims to address the misrepresentation of real families in today’s society. No filters, no stereotypes, just the joyful reality of families shot in and around mealtimes. No matter how diverse the families of today may be, uniting over food is the one thing they all have in common.

Discover a collection of stunning family portraits shot by renowned photographer, Sian Davey, who travelled the UK to capture intimate photography of British families and their individual stories.

Sian’s unique and emotive style of photography is based around the psychological landscapes of herself and those around her and her projects are largely influenced by her family community. The resulting images, as featured at the National Portrait Gallery, are an honest depiction of real, unfiltered family life.

We Are Family opens at the National Portrait Gallery on 21st September and will run for two weeks until 7th October. Admission is free and it is open to the public from 10am – 9pm, Thursday and Friday and 10am – 6pm Saturday to Wednesday
