Chapters

We go to Chapters sister restaurant (Chapter one) all the time as we live in Farnborough, the staff, the food, the service ALL GREAT!!! So we decided to travel to Blackheath to CHAPTERS to see if it was as good. We booked the table at 6pm, there were 5 and 1/2 of us including our 2 teenagers. The Staff were very welcoming and really accommodating as we had our 4 month old son with us in a car seat. That is..... apart from one waitress whom unfortunately served us. My husband pointed out a fly in his glass as we sat down and the waitress seemed to ignore him them casually swapped it for a glass at the next table (how disgusting is that?) The restaurant itself looks like it needs a bit of a clean despite the glitzy decor. As for our waitress, she didn't apologise or give any eye contact, she seemed very nonchalent and not very interested in serving us, when they got busy later she swapped with another waitress whom actually knew how to smile and was much more pleasant, If it were not for that little swap I would be ranting right now about a spoilt experience. That aside The food was OK not as good as CHAPTER ONE, we ordered new potatoes and got some dirty charlotte potatoes with small sprouts within them indicating they were a little old. Dessert also was just OK. We would like to go back to see what the breakfast is like one day, but we're not in any rush to go back. This restaurant claims NOT to be pretentious, but they are very much so and they have no right to be as the food and service is just OK. If you want a fine dining experience with staff who make you feel welcome - Take a scenic ride and go to CHAPTER ONE instead. I personally feel that CHAPTER ONE should distance themselves from this restaurant. People may WRONGLY pre- judge CHAPTER ONE in Farnborough based on their so so experience in CHAPTERS ALL DAY in Blackheath which would be bad for business.
