You rarely find customer service like this in this day and age! We live in the US, and wanted to have some Indian food sent to my daughter who has been in a hospital in London. I called Chutney's, which is thousands of miles away from where we live. Got in touch with Syed Ahmed, who mentioned that the restaurant doesn't have delivery service. But, when I told him of the situation my daughter is in, he went out of his way to deliver the food and didn't want to take any money at all. I have no words to aptly express my gratitude.

Sorry, but this place is a complete let down. Not only was the food absolutely disappointing, the service was appalling. The waiters are rude and completely unenthusiastic. Our food was late, and worse, when I was paying, the rude waiter snatched the bill out of my hand and slammed it on the table in front me saying to me: This is our copy, not your receipt! All this simply because I had taken the bill in my hand and in the process crumpled it a little coz I did not want my friend (who I was treating) to see what the total was!! Terrible service, overpriced food, definitely never going back there again and most definitely not recommending it to anyone!

Well my uncle is one of Chutney's three owners and i know that sometimes the food is cold(only at the buffets) and the alcohol is a bit pricey but the food IS bloody fantastic and its really flavorful. Anyways, Go There and Try It. Chutneys has built up a reputation for being one of Londons greatest Indian restaurants and it rightly deserves it.

I was traveling solo on business and read about Chutney's fantastic food and unpretentious scene, so I had to try it for myself. Two words: absolutely fabulous. The staff was kind and helped me navigate the menu, and the food was out of this world. I would certainly recommend Chutney's to friends and family.

I live in Islington and have been going to Chutney's for the past 5 years or so. Sunday's buffet is always full of customers, many of them Indians -good indication of its quality. It is a great place to eat for a very reasonable price. If you like Indian cuisine, don't miss it!

Had the buffet on a Sunday. The food was amazing! There was so much to choose from, and almost all of it was extremely tasty! And it is SUCH good value for money. We paid 5.95 each for all-you-can-eat buffet..amazing! I couldn't cook for that cheap.
Service was also fine, and friendly.
But was surprised at the price of bear, but who cares when the food is so good and cheap.
I will definitely be returning..

I've been eating at Chutneys for more than a decade and have always found it excellent and outstanding value. Starters are best. Not sure about the buffet - I've never had it. We usually have just one curry and a dosa (big pancake with potato filling and sauce) as a main course. Agreed no smiling friendly service; but I don't go there for that. Highly recommended for a down-to-earth, tasty exprience. I must have taken at least 50 people there over the years with 100% success rate. Everyone has loved it.

I and my wife had buffet at Chutney's. It was one of the worst lunch buffet's I have had. the buffet starts at 12, we reached at 1 and the food was totally cold. there were only 3 vegetables which were flooded with oil. The menu included aaloo, gobhi and moong dal. Any item that was finished in the stall was not being replaced. By the time we finished our lunch all the dessert was gone. i wowuld not recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a good lunch experience.

Having visited a few years ago for what was a great meal thought we would try this again. I wish we had not. I heard just before visiting a friend had had a bad experience but we still went hoping there experience was to be a one off.
The service was non-existent. No smile, hello, no eye contact, head and shoulders down. We opted fort he special thali. Dahl soup starter was overboiled and lacking in flavour. Out of the 4 curries ALL had potatos in them, one with sweetcorn, one with beans, one with carrots, and one with aubergine. All had a similar look and taste.
The dessert was a fried sweet ball with a sugar syrup, follwed by a single lychee, grape, piece of melon and watermelon.
Overall a very disappointing meal so much so that the following night we went to our fantastic local The Apollo Banana Leaf in Tooting.

I have been to quiet a few indian restuarunts but never a veggie 1!! Until now i didn't know what to expect but the was a great shock! The food was lovely I and very well presented. The staff were very friendly and service was superb! The place on first view was very small but downstairs was very big and nicely layed out. The ambience was very relaxing and welcoming, also as it was very busy there was a buzz in the air! I would go back for such nice food at a reasonable price! I will be beck very soon!

This place is fantastic, I went with my father and vegan brother and sister-in-law in January on recommendation from another relative and everyone was very impressed with both the food and the price! I had an amazing dhosa with an assortment of accompanying chutneys and sauces which was both a visual and culinary delight, the combination of flavours was perfect and I was expecially impressed with the exotic coconut chutney. The staff were friendly and knowledgable when we asked which options were vegan, and allowed us to order off-menu to suit everyone's taste. I would recommend it to anyone! Make sure you arrive early as it can get very busy.

just great. The buffet lunch has an unbelievable variety of amazing vegetarian dishes. We are not usually vegetarians, but if we could eat like this every day we would be. And it's cheap. I don't know how they do it. The atmosphre is informal and cheerful - not noisy - nopretentious. Friendly. Don't go. Everybody's going. Let's keep this secret.
