A new restaurant that’s set to disrupt Indian cuisine as we know it, has launched in Mayfair. Bindas Eatery - meaning free spirit and without inhibitions in Punjabi - is serving delicious Indian street food, inspired by the dishes sold at foodie hubs throughout India. The exciting food menu offers an eclectic celebration of Indian food, taking you on a flavour tour of the hustle and bustle of India - from Punjabi, Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala and Jaipur. Foodies can choose from small plates such as Sweet Potato Bhel Puri or Haddock Pakoras, to larger traditional Punjabi mains of Chicken Makhani or Rajma. And that’s not all. The impressive Chaat Thali (Chaat ka Chaska) is served on a traditional round hammered platter, and made up of the following mouth-watering dishes: Watermelon Chaat, Samosa Chaat, Gol Guppas and Sweet Potato Bhel Puri. Bindas Eatery’s ‘Buns and Paos’ sees a refreshing take on paos. The restaurant’s Butter Chicken Bomb Burger is an Anglo-Indian hybrid made with a marinated & spiced chicken thigh, melted emmental cheese smothered in a secret makhani sauce. Alternatively, opt for an Indian-Indo-Chinese dish of chicken or chilli paneer, served with a side of veg hakka noodles. Finish with a sweet dessert of traditional Indian ice-cream Kulfi or salted caramel gulab jamun. The restaurant’s menu caters for meat, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free customers, so whatever your tastes, there’s something for everyone. Now for the drinks! The menu offers Indian sodas like Limca and spiced coke Thums Up, or Bindas Eatery’s Tutti Frutti Lassi, made with a mix of berries, rose water and yoghurt. For those who fancy a tipple, there’s a selection of Indian beers as well as Indian-inspired cocktails such as the Mango Mirchi (Mango and Chilli Mojito), or Gulabi Rani (Rose and Elderflower Gin & Tonic). The show-stopping space pays homage to the wilderness and vibrancy of India. The decor sees the iconic auto rickshaw covered in paisley, with colours, textiles, foliage and a clever use of parrots helping to create an eclectic scene that celebrates India’s beauty and versatility. The venue’s metallic copper walls are accented by neon lights and mint truffle, with a feature wall boasting hand embroidered mirror work hailing all the way from Rajasthan - it’s a diverse celebration of India’s rich culture, right in the heart of London. Bindas Eatery is the debut from founder Mehak Kansal. Mehak was awarded the 2018 Westfield Food Entrepreneur Award which saw her scoop the prize of mentorship from renowned Spanish chef Omar Allibhoy of Tapas Revolution, and a pop-up eatery at the flagship site in Shepherd’s Bush, which was a sell-out success.
