Went with friend of mine..we entered, it was very small and smelt of disinfectant..but i was optomistic..the food could be good even if it looked a bit scruffy...no matter. The poppadom were nice..came fast. They were polite. I ordered a special and my friend ordered a chicken thing and sag alloo...amongst a few other things. My dish was better than his. My prawns were tender and nice but not many of them..but then i am greedy cow. His chicken was practically inedible it was dry like cardboard, with sauce clearly just chucked over the top. Sauce being luke warm..he asked for another..and explained why. The chicken was still dry..but sauce warmer..hmmmm. Any way, some people may say this is a great place to eat, but we won't go there again...there are plenty of better places. At least we did not get food poisoning, and that is a good thing, but we were feeling let down by it. Thus 3 stars i'm afraid..

Its the best Indian we've eaten anywhere! We never have a bad meal - usually a fantastic meal. It's small, very small, and the kitchen is tiny! The takeaways are also good, with the extra poppadoms & chutneys. It has a lot of competition in Wanstead, with a Vietnamese next door and a sister Indian restaurant opposite, but we always return to the Purbani!
