Admittedly there isn’t a great deal to do in Orpington, but Chapter One is a Michelin-starred restaurant with 4 AA rosettes and a modern European menu created by Andrew McLeish, formerly of the Ritz, the Landmark, and Chez Nico.
Dishes are contemporary and are put together with plenty of flare, like oxtail ravioli with horseradish foam and jugged hare with pancetta potato. It’s pricey, with mains costing around £20, but set lunches start from around £32 including wine.
