La Rueda
Spanish Restaurant in Clapham
There are three of these lively tapas bars in London and while the food is good and simple many people come here to drink and dance rather than to eat. The menu is largely tapas based and the atmosphere is always buzzing. This branch can cater for private parties of up to 100 guests upon request and also provides a vegetarian menu.
This is the tackiest and cheesiest place I have ever been to. Horrible experience, horrible people and what an insult to spanish cuisine. I don't normally go to places like this but it was my boyfriend work colleague’s birthday. The moment I walked in I couldn't believe my eyes, I so wanted to leave. We were 11 and therefore the staff didn't give us the choice of ‘a la carte menu’ but selected a set menu for us. I guess this is because it was Saturday evening and it would have made it easier for them. The selection was (at least I hoped) decent but when the food arrived it was appalling. My melon tasted garlic as it had obviously been cut with a dirty knife and the paella, I mean, I have
The atmosphere & wine were great, but the food was appalling. Out of the 8 Tapas dishes ordered only 2 were decent & this was only because they were prepared in advance. The meatballs must have been out of a packet, as was the rice accompanying them. The calamares batter was too floury & tasteless, and the pork was uncooked. In addition to this two dishes were served to us incorrectly.
It was very disappointing to have to pay good money for such poor quality food.
