Where: Hang
It's been claimed that climbing works every muscle group in your body, as well as being as effective a cardiovascular workout as resistance training. Obviously there are no mountains to climb in London (apart from trying to get on the housing ladder), but what the capital lacks in canyons it makes up for in entrepreneurship, and so Hang, the climbing centre in west London's Hounslow was born.
Here climbers of all and no experience can make use of 500 square metres of wall set into different 'routes' according to difficulty. You can choose from going it alone or booking a class (they currently have lessons for beginners, improvers and private sessions). It's not just climbing on offer, as there is also a training area with assistance pulleys, pinch blocks, weights and a large stretching area, as well as a co-working lounge with internet access that overlooks the centre, free to use for climbers or for visitors at £10 a day.
