Despite its SW1 location, this restaurant reminiscent of Paris brasseries may offer the best value French meal in the capital. Go during the week for the pre-theatre menu, and a two course meal with a glass of wine will set you back just £30 per person.
The food is very classic French (as is the menu write-up, so brush up on your bouillabaisse and bordelaise), with moules mariniere, charcuterie dishes, beef tartare and steaks. There is also a decent selection of shellfish, with an appealing 'oyster happy hour' where 6 oysters are £10 between 5 and 6pm throughout the week. Head to basement bar Frank's for a pre or post-dinner aperitif.
