Eat outrageous Italian

Go OTT at Circolo Popolare!

Arguably, the era of ostentatious dining may be over as Londoners today are more concerned about their carbon footprint than eating in showy hotspots. But taking a stand against minimalism is Circolo Popolare, an Italian restaurant in Fitzrovia where more is not quite enough.

The restaurant has by way of decor around 20,000 bottles of wine lining the walls, more hanging plants than Kew Gardens (we exaggerate, but you get the idea) and suitably ornate dishes like the lemon meringue pie shaped like a shark's fin.

What more could you expect from a website that greets you with a message announcing when their "sexy bookings" are released?
