Richmond Park's Tamsin Trail has been named the best winter walk in the UK by the powers that be, which in this case is Country Living magazine. The route is seven miles long and takes three to four hours in total, taking you past parakeets, deer if you're very lucky, and even a scenic view of St Paul's Cathedral once you get to the viewing point at King Henry's Mound (and peer through a telescope).
Urbanites may sneer that Richmond is already suburban bordering on countryside, but this walk will definitely make you feel that you're a long way from the city.
