Where: The Black Cultural Centre
A new, important cultural centre has opened in Islington: the Black Cultural Centre will host talks, film screenings and other events highlighting Blach history and culture. Opened by Islington Council, it follows feedback from local people on the lack of provision for Black communities in the north London borough.
Four different organisations will take turns to take up residency at the centre for three months at a time throughout the year. The first of these is Black History Studies, an educational organisation that, among other things, provide guides that highlight Black history on tours of the British Museum and the Louvre in Paris.
