Visit a turn of the Century Cinema in Clapton

A beautifully formed indie film palace

Where: Castle Cinema

Faded from its original glory as a turn of the century theatre, then bingo hall, then snooker hall, number 64 Brooksby’s Walk is now back on the up and up. After a successful crowdfunding project, the top floor of the grand building has been renovated to become the independent Castle Cinema.

A labour of love, the project was launched by the team behind hot tub cinema – although you can expect plush red velvet armchairs rather than Jacuzzis here – the small indie film palace is another example of Clapton’s creative spirit. Leaning towards the arty and indie releases of mainstream cinema, tickets at the Castle Cinema are £14.50 a show – which, for us at least, is a price worth paying to put money in the hands of a community cinema.
