Emerging Realities presents: Nature in the City

Following Emerging Realities’ inaugural exhibition in February, we are pleased to present our new exhibition, Nature in the City. Featuring the work of three contemporary London-based artists – Ali Maas, Anna Masters and Lucy Morton - Emerging Realities: Nature in the City showcases exciting new works from artists exploring natural scenes and organic form. With works ranging from painting, mixed-media and print, this exhibition brings together an innovative reimagining of an age-old subject.

Ali Maas

Ali Maas creates work as a response to a life-long love of nature and the environment. Using found and organic materials, she embellishes her subjects with mixed-media and intricate leatherwork to create a new identity for these familiar forms. This ‘evolution’ of form results in striking contemporary 2D and 3D works that highlight the beauty and fragility of the natural world.

Anna Masters

Anna Masters creates stunningly detailed paintings and mixed-media works which contrast organic subjects with geometric forms and formal pattern. Featuring butterflies, insects and flowers, Anna’s works create an unusual juxtaposition between subject and composition, resulting in striking contemporary works which seem to suspend the subjects from the natural order of life and the movement of time.

Lucy Morton
Inspired by modern life and its relationship with the natural environment, Lucy Morton’s paintings feature remote natural landscapes that convey the natural world at its most stark and beautiful. Using high contrast and a strong emphasis on light, the resulting works are vivid yet serene explorations of the physical spaces around us: as much about their impact on us as our impact on them.
