Kicking off a 3rd year of all-vinyl eclecticism, Soul Control makes its 3rd appearance at the Bussey Building with 3 very special guest selectors lining up for a sensational celebration.

With his dusty-voiced soul drawing clear influences from different compartments of the past, and his more-than-matching aptitude for digging through dusty crates to find soulful gems, Andrew Ashong has become one of the coolest sounds you hear anywhere between London and Accra, whether playing other people's music or his own.

Now 2 years after the collaboration with Theo Parrish that won him Track of the Year at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Awards, Flowers, Ashong has emerged as one of cosmopolitan London's finest selectors, playing a sublimely wide range of multicultural dynamite and releasing another highly acclaimed EP on the capital's Which Way Records.

He will be joined by the equally multifarious Mr Bongo Soundsystem. Mr Bongo, the 1989-established record emporium that has stood proudly in Shibuya and Soho, has gone on to become a Scorsese and Coppola-collaborating world cinema distributor, releasing records from Terry Callier, Jorge Ben, Seu Jorge and Prince Fatty.

Now a 1/4 century old, Mr Bongo is peerless in the dissemination of rare and raw gold from the shores of jazz and reggae, of Latin, African, and Brazilian, and their globetrotting Soundsystem promises to lend our birthday fiesta its wealth of fiery international flavours.

Dave Koor is a South London native, producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist. He is the keys player for The Expansions, a jazz-funk quartet with roots based in the 70s, Blaxploitation movies, pimps and Cadillacs, and has featured alongside Myron and E, Daudi Matsiko, and The Gene Dudley Group.

1/2 of producer duo Modified Man along with Wah Wah 45s' Adam Scrimshire, and 1/3rd of label Albert's Favourites Koor has also spun records extensively and brings a diverse selection guaranteed.

Residents: Jowan Uren, Kafka & Styla Stibes
