This talk will explore the rich history of photography in our building of the old Town Hall of Battersea, from large scale public exhibitions to the hidden away dark rooms. The evening will explore what power photography can have within the community and its potential for impacting social change.
Speakers on the night:
Althea Greenan is curator of Make: Women's Artist Library at Goldsmiths University. She'll be exploring the history of the Women's Artist Slide Library at Battersea Arts Centre, and how they worked to combat the under-representation of women photographers.
Gina Glover is Co-Founder of the Wandsworth Photo Co-Op (now Photofusion, Brixton) who's aims were to give a wider section of society a voice through photography. She'll be looking back at the birth of this initiative at Battersea Arts Centre in the 80s, and Photofusion's recent work growing on that legacy.
Tickets are free but advance booking is required as places are limited. Complimentary drinks will be provided.
