John Martin released his debut album Dawning on the Fire label in 2011. One of the most pleasing discoveries of 2011, it received approving testimonials from both the great Kenny Wheeler and Iain Ballamy.
Martin's uncluttered improvisations and the dynamic structures created by the band respond to a wide range of inspiration, from English jazz and folk and the ECM sound to Wayne Shorter and the downtown New York.
