Anatolian Cultural Fete; bringing the sounds and smells of Anatolia to London

The Anatolia Community Association will host the 7th Anatolian Cultural Fete in Clissod Park (N16 9HJ), Hackney from the 8th – 16th June 2013.

This free festival attracts more than 50,000 visitors which consist of popular cultural exhibits, foods, crafts, and performances highlighting the diverse history of the region in Turkey, along with an array of new features.

The grand opening, taking place on Saturday 8th June at 2pm includes an exciting line-up of live shows. Among them will be the Ottoman Marching Band, Whirling Dervishes, cooking contests, traditional theatre and Oil Wrestling.

The Anatolian Cultural Fete has something for the whole family with international and local music, traditional costume dress-up, whirling dervishes, Ottoman Art of marble painting, calligraphy and art exhibitions.

As ever, food and drink will be one of the festival's main attractions. Traditional tea, coffee, breads, kebabs, irresistible ice cream, world famous desserts and cuisine will all be prepared by cooks at the festival. There will be traveller’s marquee (Nomad Tent) where you can taste the most delicious ayran (a popular yoghurt drink).

The festival’s tradition is to accommodate School’s from around London during the weekdays for an educational field trip full of hands on fun, entertainment and learning.

Anatolian Community Association (ACA) is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation who aims to educate and share the Anatolian culture with the youth in the UK. All funds raised through the festival go to a children’s education charity.
