In its first season, this exciting new cinema is devoting itself to screening film indebted to the mastery of the playwright. Hollywood proves that some of history’s greatest cinematic achievements have their roots in theatre, and as such this season is committed to screening cinema you may not have known originated on the stage. A delightful canter through the cinematic cannon, complete with the Shakespeare-inspired My Own Private Idaho and Hurlyburly, the wonderfully adapted Twelve Angry Men and the Broadway adapted brilliance of A Few Good Men. Join us for a theatrical jaunt through the history of cinema.

A unique and atmospheric venue for showing the best in off-beat, underrated and overlooked celluloid. No quote-alongs. No irony. No so-bad-it's-good platitudes. Just a lovingly curated programme of films perfect for a lazy Sunday evening. Hosted by ex-Old Red Lion Theatre Artistic Director Helen Devine, and Old Red impresario Joe Devine, each evening will feature themed shorts, animation and asides, along with a copper-bottomed classic of a movie. Play out the end of your weekend with the perfect mix of pints and popcorn. The Old Red Lion Cinema Club opens its doors this autumn. Expect more than just a film.
