What better way to kick of the New Year that with an all-out brass-tastic bash?! Movimientos is proud to jump start 2014 with a unique session at Hootananny’s, and we’re looking forward to sharing these eclectic acts with you. Expect a high energy live performances from The Hackney Colliery Band, east London’s uniquely modern take on the conventional brass band, as well as their young protégées Roundhouse Brass, a youth orchestra that will be blasting out hip hop, jazz and ska delights. We’ll also be joined by the fantastic Orchestre du Mont Plaisant, playing their unique blend of Afro-Latin rhythms with blues and dance undertones. When the horns are all blown out, Movimientos DJs will take to the decks to play the freshest in global and Latin beats, making sure 2014 gets off to a storming tropical start.

LIVE ACTS:

Hackney Colliery Band
These guys are east London’s unique take on the traditional brass band; a cacophony of trumpets, trombones, saxes and marching percussion with an unwavering ability to make all within earshot move their feet.

Orchestre du Montplaisant
The Orchestre concoct a unique mix of European, Afro and Latin sounds, fusing Cumbia, Afro-Cuban and Eastern tempos with haunting vocal arrangements sung in Italian.

Roundhouse Brass
Roundhouse Brass is the legendary Camden venue’s very own contemporary brass band. Formed in Spring 2013, the band takes its inspiration from the new wave of brass bands and is led by Steve Pretty and Olly Blackman of brass greats the Hackney Colliery Band.
