Acclaimed British composer Max Richter makes his Royal Albert Hall debut bringing to life The Four Seasons Recomposed, his ground-breaking re-imagining of Vivaldi’s masterpiece. Renowned British violinist Daniel Hope and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra join Richter, on piano, keyboard and electronics, for a rare event which includes a complete UK performance of his celebrated work The Blue Notebooks with recorded narration by Tilda Swinton.

Originally released in 2012 and relaunched in 2014, The Four Seasons Recomposed topped the iTunes classical chart in 24 countries including the UK, Germany and the US, and has since become one of the most talked about new classical works of recent times. Richter says of the piece: ‘The Four Seasons is something we all carry around with us, it’s just everywhere. In a way, we stop being able to hear it. So this project is about reclaiming this music for me personally by getting inside it and rediscovering it for myself – and taking a new path through a well-known landscape.’

Marking the tenth anniversary since its release, The Blue Notebooks is a collection of atmospheric compositions, some of which have since been heard in films such as Shutter Island and Waltz with Bashir. The performance features recorded narration by Tilda Swinton, and has been praised as ‘an album of astonishing depth and beauty’. (The New Statesman)
