Botanical Art Class: Autumn Colours - Weekend Workshop

Weekend watercolour workshop studying autumn colours.

During this two-day, week-end workshop students will undertake observational drawing and create a small watercolour study of autumn colour and can chose from subjects including fruits and flowers. Students will learn skills including accurate line drawing, drawing to scale, composition, tonal sketching, creating form using water colour washes and colour mixing. Students work at their own pace with some 1-2-1 tutor support. There will be tutor demonstrations, group drawing exercises and class discussions. Suitable for all abilities.

Louise O'Reilly is an illustrator working in a wide range of natural history subjects including plants, insects and birds. Her training includes Botanical Illustration at Oxford and Cherwell College (2002-2005), Diploma in Botanical Illustration from the Society of Botanical Artists (2007) and Insect Drawing at the University of Cambridge Botanical Gardens (2010). She teaches Botanical Illustration at Capel Manor College in Regent's Park and provides workshops for the Garden Classroom in Islington. She is a painting member of the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society and is based in a studio in East London. Recent commissions include an artists's book about the 17th century gardens at Ham House for the National Trust in 2012 and Fountain's Florilegia, a large-scale architectural glass commission for a new primary health care building in Chester. In 2013 she was the first artist in residence at Borde Hill Garden in West Sussex and in 2014 she was artist in residence at Mottisfont House and Garden in Hampshire.
