St Martin-in-the-Fields in the heart of Trafalgar Square will be the breathtaking backdrop to a candlelit carol service to support families with children in hospital.

The event is being held to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Guy’s and St Thomas’ - one of 14 Houses which provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families who have children being treated at specialist hospitals across the UK.

The special service is set to be full of Christmas cheer with a programme complete with classic carols, festive readings and the lighting of the advent candle to mark the beginning of the holiday season.

On the night, which is sure to get everyone in the Christmas spirit, performances include renowned clarinettist Emma Johnson MBE, the Chorus of the English National Opera, the London Welsh Rugby Choir Club and Sydenham High School Junior Choir, as well as the Evelina Pride Group – the support group for young patients being treated at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

There will also be families speaking about their experience staying at the House whilst their children were treated at the specialist hospital in London.

Ronald McDonald House Guy’s and St Thomas’ is run by Ronald McDonald House Charities – the independent charity which, in 2014, helped keep over 6,000 families together when they needed it most.

The Charity is currently constructing a brand new 59 bedroom House for Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, which is just a five minute walk away from the wards and almost triple the size of the existing facility. Construction work is due to finish in autumn 2016.
