Join Foyles on Wednesday3rd February 2016 at 7pm for an inspiring evening of readings and discussion with acclaimed authors to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Quick Reads as well as the launch of 2016’s brand new titles, sponsored by GALAXY® Chocolate.

Chaired by Director of Quick Reads and bestselling author Cathy Rentzenbrink, the panel will include Fanny Blake, Elizabeth Buchan, Veronica Henry, Rowan Coleman and Matt Haig, all of whom will read their stories featured within the special 2016 GALAXY Quick Read entitled The Anniversary, which marks the programme’s milestone year.

2016 marks a decade of Quick Reads, which was set up in 2006 to support the 1 in 6 adults of working age in the UK who find reading difficult, as well as the 1 in 3 adults who do not read for pleasure. Each year Quick Reads commissions big name authors to write short stories that are specifically designed to be easy to read. They are the same as mainstream books in every respect but are simply shorter and easier to tackle for adults who are either less confident in their reading skills or who struggle to find the time to pick up a book. The books, which are perfect for the commute, cost just £1 each and are sold through major retailers and online booksellers as well as being available through library loans.

The brand new list of six bite-size books from well-known authors will be published for 2016 and released to the public the morning after the Foyles reader event on Thursday 4th February, to help all adults discover the pleasure and benefits of a good read. The 2016 Galaxy Quick Reads are:

– The Anniversary: Ten Tempting Stories From Ten Bestselling Authors (edited by Veronica Henry)
– The Double Clue: Poirot Short Stories by Agatha Christie (edited by Sophie Hannah and John Curran)
– Too Good to be True by Ann Cleeves
– A Baby at the Beach Café by Lucy Diamond
– On the Rock by Andy McNab
– I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban (An Abridged Edition) by Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb

Tickets are free of charge but must be reserved from Foyles’ website.

All attendees will receive a complimentary goody bag and glass of wine. Please note: no physical tickets will be issued; the email confirmation you receive is proof of your booking
