This August, multi award-winning filmmaker Ben Wheatley will introduce a special rooftop screening of High Rise, his adaptation of JG Ballard’s 1975 book, starring Tom Hiddleston and Sienna Miller. The screening is one of four unique events taking place across London to mark the housing and homelessness charity’s 50th anniversary.

The intimate screening will also feature the premier of The Nest, a short film starring This is England actress Vicky McClure. It will take place at the Rooftop Cinema Club in Peckham on 8th August and will be part of Gimme Shelter, a series of events taking place throughout the summer. Focused around literature, art, music and film, the four unique events will support Shelter’s work to help people facing homelessness and bad housing.

Tickets for each exclusive event will be allocated via a ballot at the URL below. Successful entrants will be asked to purchase tickets for their chosen event for £10, with all proceeds going directly to support Shelter’s vital work.

Ben Wheatley said: “I’m very pleased to be invited to help Shelter mark their 50th anniversary. I hope it will be a really special evening, as well as a great way to support Shelter’s work, as vital now as it was 50 years ago. Anyone of us could become homeless tomorrow, and without organisations like Shelter we’d be left with nowhere to turn.”

Julie Bolt, Shelter’s head of community and events, said: “We’re delighted to have so many talented people dedicate their time to Gimme Shelter.

“For fifty years, Shelter has been fighting bad housing and homelessness but we’ve still got a long way to go. By entering the ballot, you’ll not only get a chance to come along to one of these very special events, you’ll be helping Shelter’s work to make sure we all have a place to call home.”
