Taking place on Wednesday 19th April 2017 at renowned writing hub Foyles Charing Cross, our evening event will provide valuable insight into the types of careers the writing industries can offer. This free event will be hosted by our programme leader KT Forster (ex managing director Virgin Books) and will feature a panel of top industry speakers followed by an Q&A and a meet and greet with our speakers. This is the perfect event for finding out more about the types of careers you can now aspire to as a writer.

Ivor Baddiel - Scriptwriter & Author

Ivor's television and radio credits include The BAFTAs, Mock The Week, The X Factor, The National Television Awards, Comic Relief, Sport Relief, Off Their Rockers, Dancing On Ice, I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, Loose Ends, Fighting Talk, Deadringers and Hot Gossip.
He has written for many people including Stephen Fry, Graham Norton, Bruce Forsyth, Claudia Winkleman, Miranda Hart, Dara O’Briain, Paddy McGuiness, Joan Rivers, Jerry Springer, Mel and Sue, Dermot O’Leary and Ant and Dec. Ivor is also the author of fourteen books for both children and adults.

Andrew Walsh - Games Writing

Andrew S. Walsh is an award-winning writer/director with credits across film, television, theatre, radio, animation and videogames. He has appeared as a writer, director, speech designer, narrative designer, narrative producer, story consultant, script editor, motion capture director, camera director, voice director, story producer, storyliner and story editor.
To date he has worked on videogames such as Prince of Persia, Lego City, Undercover, Risen, Harry Potter, Fable Legends and Need for Speed. His film work includes the English version of Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, while his time in television has embraced a wide-range of accents from Yorkshire (Emmerdale), Geordie (Byker Grove), Canadian (Risk) and London (Family Affairs). His theatre work includes Wind in the Willows, Jungle Book and Goldilocks & the Three Endings for Sixteenfeet as well as Five Bites Over Lunch for the Ben Kingsley Theatre, Summoning Cananaza (Chaincourt), Loom! The Musical (Styal Mill), Faerie, Luv Story, Knocking on Heaven’s Door, Party Politics, and The Morning After for Hell or High Water.

Jenny Parrott - Fiction & Publishing

Jenny Parrott has worked in publishing since 1987 and has acquired for Bloomsbury, HarperCollins and Little Brown. Specialising as a consultant in literary fiction, Jenny also teaches creative writing for Arvon and Espirita. She leads the Point Blank literary crime, thriller and suspense imprint at Oneworld and is a preliminary judge for one of the Costa prizes. Jenny has a three-novel deal with Orion for a series of commercial women’s sagas written under the pseudonym Kitty Danton.

KT is currently a literary agent and consultant advising on all aspects of writing, authorship and the book publishing industry. Before her decision to start her own company she was one of the most influential publishers in the country as the Managing Director of Virgin Books, part of the international Virgin Group. In 2008 she led the company through its acquisition by Random House publishers, part of the Bertelsmann Group. KT has published across a wide range of genres and with many personalities, including Sir Richard Branson, Carol Vorderman, Wayne Rooney, Mark Lewisohn, Usain Bolt, Olly Murs, Carol McGiffin, Lorraine Kelly, Marcus Butler and Anthea Turner.
