In celebration of Afternoon Tea Week on 13th - 20th August, the Royal Albert Hall is revamping its Afternoon Tea and Grand Tour experience for Autumn this year. Guests will explore the venue before being treated to a brand new menu as part of this special inclusive package.

Visitors who come to the Hall for a traditional afternoon tea can begin their trip by discovering the history of the iconic venue, which has almost 150 years’ worth of stories to tell. The Grand Tour is the only way to discover:

? Why the auditorium was flooded with 56,000 litres of water
? Which famous author’s soul was the subject of a 1930 séance
? Which notorious criminals once took centre-stage at the Hall

Bridget Nolan, Tours Manager at the Hall, says “The Grand Tour is the perfect accompaniment to the great tradition of afternoon tea - a ritual that’s been enjoyed by visitors to the Hall for over 100 years, including Queen Elizabeth II for the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Institute. Visitors have the opportunity to really explore the Hall and celebrate its unique history and charm, before enjoying afternoon tea in a truly iconic setting”.

Last year, the iconic venue hosted 7683 afternoon tea visitors, with over 20,000 cups of tea and 1,500 glasses of champagne served, 38,415 sandwiches eaten, and 38,015 cakes and scones devoured.

Served with a twist of Royal Albert Hall flair, the new look menu features classic finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, 13 blends of tea and a whimsical mix of musically-inspired cakes as a nod to the legendary performances that take place on its stage.

This year’s celebration of Afternoon Tea Week allows visitors to enjoy with a free glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne with every booking (Valid 14-19 August 2018. Available 2:00-4:30.)

Afternoon Tea takes place in Royal Albert Hall’s restaurant, Verdi - Italian Kitchen, with four sittings to choose from at 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm, and 3.30pm Tuesday to Sunday. Tours take place typically every half hour from 9.30am - 5pm.
