Presented by Gemma Brockis

Life ends here. In this room. You’re welcome to watch, just pay a little money and turn up at the specified time. The password is SILENCE. An Execution (by Invitation Only) is the latest show from Shunt founder Gemma Brockis, collaborating with key Shunt associates. These pioneers of immersive work in unusual places invite you into Camden People’s Theatre’s black box theatre. There is one door out of the theatre, and the door is locked. The jailer has the key. The show is inspired by a 1934 novel by Vladimir Nabokov, which charts the last days of a prisoner waiting to be beheaded for the crime of opacity. Nabokov knew what it was to be a misfit in a Russia that played dangerously with the truth. In this world, what is it to be real? And what is it to be accused of fakery?
