Alissa Anne Jeun Yi: Daddy Issues

Daddy Issues is a drag king, comedy and performance art show about how I was called to move out from the church and go live in a sea-facing apartment above a gay bar. I started dragging up as ‘Daddy’, and vowed not emerge from said apartment until I had figured out what Daddy’s issues were. I contemplated the nature of water as fluid (like gender); within Chinese Philosophy; the Christian ‘water of life’; and looked to the ultimate water source – the sea – to heal me. Problem is, my Dad never taught me to swim. So what should I do now?!
