Ardbeg, the ultimate Islay malt whisky, is hosting a Punk-tastic event on 21st May in London to kick off its global Ardbeg Day celebrations.
In celebration of the first physical festivities since 2019 held annually on the final Saturday of Islay’s Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle) in June, Ardbeg is calling all rabble rousers to join them between 2-7pm at Strongroom Bar, London.
Attendees will have a chance to try their hand at Punk-themed activities from live graffiti wall and ‘Punk your look’ stations, to the Ardbeg Fling, or ‘welly wanging’ and rebel portrait artists. Enjoy delicious BBQ smoky burgers and finish with a sweet treat from the customisable donut station, perfectly complementing the smoke of Ardbeg whisky.
Ardbeg has also created a limited-edition release, Ardcore, to mark the occasion, drawing inspiration from Islay’s little-known punk past. A celebration of the characters of “Punk Ellen,” a nickname for Islay’s main port, Port Ellen, in the 1970s, it’s a roasted black malt punch of a dram.
Of course, there are tastings of Ardcore throughout the day and plenty of ‘Rock-tails’ to savour as you pogo to a live punk band to end the day.
So get your punk inspired finery on, and be prepared to rock out with your fellow rebels to celebrate the wildest Islay distillery on the island!
