The IG London Nocturne will return to the City of London on Saturday 9th June with another year of high speed racing, penny farthings, a longest skid competition and the legendary folding bike race.
IG, the financial spread betting and CFD trading company, will be sponsoring the event once again in 2012 as part of their ongoing investment in cycling. The best of British and international cycling will be on display and the event will provide the nation with a chance to see top international riders compete before the Olympics. As well as the headline Elite Criterium race, the pros will also take part in an Elimination race, a new addition to the 2012 programme that will test both their endurance and sprint skills to the limit.
Another new addition will be the IG City Criterium where five-man teams from leading city businesses will be looking to emulate the pros and claim the title as fastest company in the Square Mile.

The IG London Nocturne – which is free to attend for spectators – is not only for those on two wheels; hosting a whirl of entertainment on the circuit to create a mini cycling festival in the heart of the city. Local bars and restaurants around Smithfield Market become part of the event with food and drinks promotions fuelling the party. Spectators can also interact with the numerous displays and trade stands in the expo areas while watching the action on big screens.

This year the IG London Nocturne will also be screened on Channel 4 and will be available to watch online on 4OD. James Pope, Founder of the Nocturne said: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Channel 4 who will be official broadcast partner for the event. Channel 4 was the home of cycling with their coverage of the Tour de France so we are delighted the Nocturne will bring back cycling coverage in 2012.”

He continued, “This is London’s year of sport and we are extremely excited to be coming back to the City bigger and better than ever before. For those of you that haven’t been lucky enough to secure tickets to the velodrome this summer, the London Nocturne will provide all the thrills and excitement you could ask for of an international cycling event.”

Approximately 45,000 people have attended the Nocturne Series since its inception in 2007.
