Conceived and Directed by Matthew Lloyd

Through a tapestry of different voices this series of inventive and playful installations, artwork, interactive events and theatre performances will uncover what ‘pilgrimage’ means now in contemporary society.

In a sense, everyone is a pilgrim at some point in their lives: it’s the need to take ourselves out of our comfort zone, the search for something larger, the quest for insight or the trip we make for symbolic or religious reasons. Using a kaleidoscope of real life stories, Are We Nearly There Yet? travels to the heart of this idea and discovers the many different shrines we create in our daily lives.
Performances

Moving through Wilton’s, audiences will be taken on a journey, revealing real life stories and experiences provided by people from all walks of life who have been on a pilgrimage in some form. Performed by actors, the collected stories are real memories from our community that reflect its diversity and the haphazard way in which we express ourselves.
Art Installations

Several artists, led by Sophie Herxheimer, will produce a series of art installations throughout the rooms and spaces of Wilton’s. The exhibition will be open for viewing during the day and is free for all visitors. Quirky, thought-provoking and curious, the installations will become the backdrop for the performances in the evening taking place Wednesday – Saturday.
