Very disappointing. Staff are quite rude especially the owner and argue between themselves in their native language behind the counter. Had to wait 15 minutes for takeaway food due to a prior big order. No apology given and by then lots of customers. Gave up and went to Georges fish bar in nearby South Woodford. Much nicer.

I went into a sparkling clean place and ordered a small cod and chips to eat in. Great chunky chips. Yum Yum Huge piece of cod. Great crunchy batter. All fresh and hot. The fish was too big for me but... I managed.
Very attentive staff to me and to the continual flow of customers. Love the opening hours.

Our second visit since new ownership and have to say very disappointed. On both occasions the fish was overcooked and dry, the batter bordering on burnt. Such a shame as this establishment was top grade, no longer. We had hoped our first visit was a 'one off', unfortunately not.

As the previous review says, until a month or so ago this was an excellent fish and chip shop. The new people running it are not keeping up the standard. Today we had two fish and chips and some curry sauce to take away. The fish was very dry and unappealing. Either it had been kept warm too long or if had been kept deep frozen for too long. The chips (and the batter on the fish) were soggy. Some of the chips had obviously been cooked more than once too. The curry sauce was cold and was very watery, like they were saving money by adding extra water. I won't be buying from them again.

Disappointed.
My family and work colleagues have been using this fish and chip shop for several years and never until now had a bad meal.

New owners have taken it over and we had 3 portions of fish and chips today at work, NONE of us finished the fish, this had been fried in stale oil and the chips were all in tiny pieces. What a shame, I will complain to them as if they aren't told they will continue doing this.

I hope it's a temporary blip as I don't want to have to miss out on our once a week treat in the office but I won't go back if it happens again.

Best fish and chips ever! Really fresh, juicy fish, ridiculously large portions (my husband and I share a large fish and small chips as dinner). No wonder there's queues at dinner time. Many thanks to the hard-working folks there.

Fantastic old skool fish and chips, by amazingly hard working Chinese family. Always very fresh, as they don't cook loads and leave to dry up in the hot cabinet. Does often mean a wait while it's still frying, but well worth it. As closing time approaches, it's almost cooked to order which means nothing is left and re-heated next day.

Portions are, frankly, ridiculous. "Small" chips enough for 2, and their "small" cod is about twice the size you would get at their competitors. How anyone eats a large portion, I can't imagine. They could reduce and increase profitability.

What a fantastic chippy, and on my high street! The fish & chip portions are generous, the fish is beautifully cooked and tastes fresh. Keep up the good work!

The Lighthouse fish and chip shop has recently undergone a refurb and since doing so the fish and chips have really improved! I had started going to South Woodford or Leytonstone for my fish and chips, but now only need to go to my local high street! Staff are friendly, portions are huge, fish and chips are nicely fried and not too greasy, prices are reasonable. You can eat in and pay a little more or take away, would recommend!
