The British Infantry regiment differs from the rest of the army in that the soldiers fight on foot rather than in a vehicle, and this museum located in the Tower of London explains its history in detail. Here you’ll find uniforms, medals, flags and other memorabilia connected to the Infantry since its inception to the present day; one of the more curious items is an iron boot applied to the leg of a soldier who it was believed was making his injury worse to avoid battle. There are also photographs, personal letters and diaries which give an insight into the life of a soldier at times of war.The museum, which has been going since 1949, is open seven days a week and entrance is free.
