London's best beef burgers

What makes the ultimate burger? It's quite possibly a little bit of meat alchemy.

Having said goodbye to their van and former New Cross pop-up Meat Liquor are undoubtedly the success story of the capital’s obsession with gourmet junk food. They do it dirtier than anyone else serving up glazed brioche buns crammed with greasy perfection. The restaurant is a boisterous slice of urban eating and that’s why we love it.

It doesn't have to be a greasy doner or whatever's left in the cabinet at Sam's Chick'n 'n' Ribz.

The was the first permanent restaurant opened by the Meat burger guys. It’s noisy, impossibly trendy, and the juicy burgers are exceptional. Open till 2am on Fridays and Saturdays (the kitchen shuts one hour before closing time).

The Triple Chilli Challengehas it all:it’s gigantic, sweat-inducingly hot, and to get the meal for free you have to empty your plate in under 10 minutes. It consists of a plate of chilli cheese fries, a hot dog loaded with beef chilli, jalapenos and mustard, and a cheeseburger covered in – you guessed it - more chillies. Also available at MeatMission.

Some pop-ups are so good, they stay up

The pop-up that started it all, elevated burgers to gourmet status and became London’s most talked about restaurant. The enterprise begun life with the Meatwagon, trawlingthrough pub gardens, before launching the #MEATEASY pop up at The Goldsmiths Tavern in New Cross. MeatLiquor was their first permanent eatery, and after opening four other London branches they’re now in the process of rolling it out nationwide. Make no mistake, this is naughty, sinful junk food – oversized, messy burgers, fries topped with cheese and deep fried pickles are their signatures.

Even dudes need feeding...

When the owners of Meatliquor started selling their burgers from a van called the Meatwagon, little did anyone know that a junk food revolution was beginning. Now a UK-wide chain (plus a branch in Singapore) their glazed brioche buns filled with juicy beef patties and piled high with cheese and pickles are still a favourite of burger devotees.

This was definitely a challenge, without a doubt. Not gonna lie it managed to defeat me with only a few mouthfuls left! I would suggest having a decent game plan if your laying into this one.
I'm not at all unhappy with the food, the milkshakes are out of this world, but the description was very misleading! I was hoping for a mega spicy gut buster, or even half spicy... But it was all chilli as in the con carne kind. And you know when you prepare yourself for something and your hyped up to leak from every hole in your face and almost die from the experience, and you get let down with bloody chilli con carne. I would suggest making your description a lot clearer.

Just fantastic! Get the chicken wings as a starter cause the aroma is delicious. And the best thing on the drinks menu is the Grog, although shame you can only have two per customer (its a lethal alcoholic beverage)! Absolutely a MUST VISIT for anyone wanting a reasonably prices burger!
