Where: Larry's Bar at National Portrait Gallery
The National Portrait Gallery has got a new bar, and they've gone for a glamorous, dive bar aesthetic inspired by the movies. It's in the basement of the gallery, with portraits of the stars lining the walls, naturally.
The main focus is on cocktails, although there's a very decent wine list and food too - think super posh pub snacks like wagyu beef and ale pie and lobster roll with yuzu aioli and caviar.
We particularly like the glass ceiling under the pavement so you can spy on the people above, as well as the possibility of getting a seat and hearing your companion past 5pm on a Friday, despite its West End location.
