Everything is art. There. Sorted.

The whole world is a canvas, and we are adding to it day by day, good and bad. But what immediatly comes to mind when I think of Art is a picture/painting of somesort. One that moves/effects me in someway. But everyone has their own opinions and Ellie is right in someway when she says art is basically depicted by the eye of the beholder. Just because somebody likes a can of beans placed on a frisbee doesn't mean that they are mentally retarded. It could mean something to the artiste.

Yes you can!! That is the whole point. It is trash to that one person, but it is a treasure to the other person. Take Damien Hirsts' skull with the diamonds. Some people consider it a complete waste of time, money, resources, etc. Others see it as a thing of beauty that speaks to the treatment of people working in the non ethical diamond mines and how we are contributing to their situation. Where do you have the right to determine that one thing is trash to everyone and another thing isn't? Where do you have the right to say that if someone sees something different to you, they are mentally not-right?

I can't believe you would hide behind the 'free speech' thing instead of taking responsibility for acting like a spoiled brat. I personally don't think you have the right to comment on art if you have the attitude where you think you are justified in calling people mentally not-right because they make an effort to understand something you obviously don't.
